Improve monday.com time tracking with this 7pace integration

It’s easy to see why some software teams dislike time tracking

Instead of using it as a tool for developer self-improvement, some managers and businesses can get overzealous, using time tracking to micromanage employees.

And, ironically, doing time tracking wrong can cost team leads the time they’re trying to save through overbuilt processes and tooling.

If employee time tracking has become a pain point for your team, here’s the prescription: 7pace + monday.com

This guide will walk you through why 7pace Timetracker is pivotal for enhancing team productivity and reducing time wastage to speed up project cycle times. And, how to integrate 7pace with monday.com in ten minutes or less, so you can better collect and analyze team time reports to make more accurate estimations and better allocate resources to improve project delivery efficiency metrics.

What is monday.com?

monday.com is what’s known as a “work operating system” (work OS) — a platform made up of various apps that can be combined to help teams carry out their every task, project, and workflow.

As such, monday.com’s primary function is to centralize all things work in one place.

It does this by providing a visual interface where teams can collaborate to plan, track, and manage work. It’s become known for being a user-friendly and customizable platform that teams of all sizes across various industries can use to streamline processes and increase productivity.

That’s why we use it here at 7pace, and are proud to be part of their robust integration library.

Why 7pace time tracking is pivotal to project success

With 7pace’s time tracking app, team-wide time documentation and reporting become seamless.

Fully-integrated time tracking functionality helps predicate project success across business units.

For team managers

First, a built-in time tracking app is critical for product and project managers because it quantifies how much time is being spent on each task or phase of a project, by each team member. This information is key to understanding unique skill sets across your team and allocating resources accordingly.

And when team leads have access to time tracking data, they can use that knowledge for predictable project planning. More accurate planning makes for better scheduling, more timelines met, fewer budget overages, and fewer overworked team members.

For business leaders

For decision-makers who manage tooling and capitalization, accurate time tracking software is most impactful in cost management. True time data assists in creating software development budgets that are both specific and realistic.

In addition, keeping a running tab on time is the best way to identify where scope creep is silently siphoning off your budget.

Just look at time spent on planned tasks versus unexpected/new tasks to stop budget busters in their tracks — or apply that helpful information next time you’re scoping out a task or an entire project.

For developers

Last (but certainly not least), for developers and anyone else executing on tasks, the ability to track hours practically in real-time makes it easier to focus on the work at hand (and more likely that all their billable time will make it into your records).

Beyond that, being able to see their own hours gives the people who produce the work a peek into their patterns, so they can identify areas of inefficiency and track their progress toward becoming a better programmer. Plus, having hard data on how long it takes them to complete specific tasks makes developers great at creating effort estimations — furthering your goal as team leader to create project plans that are less stressful for everyone

How 7pace and monday.com work together

Adding 7pace’s powerful, purpose-built time tracking solution into your monday.com instance brings together the best parts of both platforms to make time tracking more seamless, accurate, and useful than ever.

Here are just some of the ways the 7pace + monday.com integration will benefit your whole team.

Improve your estimation accuracy

When you use 7pace inside monday.com, you get more than a simple list of tracked hours.

You can turn all your reported work hours into a monday.com board, so you can slice, dice, and analyze your data for better software cost estimations

By assigning attributes to entries, you can create rich timesheets full of the context that makes for next-level project management. Attach hourly rates to each person on the project to see how everyone is contributing. Set up a dashboard to watch the project progress against the budgeted hours.

With monday.com’s features and 7pace’s smart time tracking features, you have all the insight you need into how long jobs take and why, so you can predict durations more precisely the next time around.

For managers, you can access all team-wide time and individual time and use this data to create detailed reports from inside monday.com. And with just a click, you can export this data to a spreadsheet to conduct deeper analysis.

Enjoy effortless, team-wide time tracking
